The Patient Care Technician (PCT) course prepares students for certification and employment in the health care field. The training is comprised of classroom, lab practice, and clinical externship.

Certificate levels are:

  • Nursing Assistant (also certified by the state of Tennessee)

  • Phlebotomy Technician (also certified by the National Healthcareer Association)

  • Electrocardiography Technician (also certified by the National Healthcareer Association)

The course of study also includes skills enhancement, job seeking skills, medical terminology, basic anatomy and science, advanced procedures, CPR for the healthcare provider, first aid, and basic medical office skills. Each student will participate in more than 9 weeks of training in various medical facilities. The hours of operation in each medical facility will vary, requiring a degree of student flexibility.

Class requirements

All prospective applicants will be required to score at 9th grade level on the TABE test (Test of Adult Basic Education).
