The Industrial Electricity program incorporates classroom instruction and shop learning experiences utilizing actual equipment and/or related training devices to give the student the necessary background to enter industry and perform electrical/electronic maintenance. Students begin with approximately 1000 clock hours of Basic Electronics including computer control training to be followed by 1268 hours of Industrial Applications. An industry standard motor control and programmable logic controller (PLC) trainer allows the instructor to simulate exact faults or problems that may arise in the actual work environment. The flexibility of the program is such that it can be readily segmented to provide specialized training for maintenance persons presently employed. The program includes training in circuits, pneumatics, hydraulics, motor control, industrial electrical wiring, and process automation computers. The Co-op work program is an integral part of this department.
