The Commercial Truck Driver (CTD) course is designed to prepare the student to begin a career as a professional truck driver. Classroom presentation includes Department of Transportation rules and regulations, vehicle maintenance, and procedures for daily logging. Each student spends 216 hours observing and/or conducting behind-the-wheel training on the obstacle course driving range, and also on the road operating one of the school's two modern tractor trailer rigs. Such exercises enhance the capabilities necessary to pass the CDL road test. Mastery of all covered skills is required for a certificate.

Class Requirements

  • Current Tennessee Class A CDL permit

  • Must pass D.O.T. physical

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Must pass drug/alcohol screening test

  • Must have good driving record- no more than three moving violations in the past three years and no DUI's in the past 5 years
