Instructors: Twila Ward (Ripley), Donna Kilburn (Alamo) Program Length: 12 months Current Openings: Contact school The Business Systems Technology program (BST) is designed to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for success in today's computerized office environment. Students are offered an opportunity to experience extensive hands-on training with up-to-date office equipment and computer software. Students may select a major area of interest leading to an administrative assistant or an accounting assistant diploma. Within each major area, students also have the opportunity to develop the skills needed for several different certificate levels of training. The program is based on the curriculum guide as set forth by the State Committee for Business Systems Technology programs for Tennessee Technology Centers and by the needs of the community workforce as determined by the local Occupational Advisory Committee for the Business Systems Technology program. Students will develop the knowledge and skills office professionals need to secure good jobs and to succeed in the "new" re-engineered office of the 21st Century. OPAC (Office Proficiency Assessment and Certification) and MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist Certification) are available for students in this program. Articulation agreements with Dyersburg State Community College and Jackson State Community College have been completed. This allows students who complete this program to receive credit for specified courses at those schools.
